The City of Douglasville, GA, is about 20 miles west of Atlanta in Douglas County. The official County government administrative office complex at 8700 Hospital Drive in Douglasville is where most of Douglas County’s administrative bureaus such as the Building Department, the Development Authority of Douglas County, and the Douglas County Tourism and History Commission are located.

Douglasville’s City Hall at 6695 Church Street in O’Neal Plaza contains the official City government administrative bureaus such as the City Manager’s office, the City Clerk’s office, and the Community & Downtown Services Department, which is responsible for the operation of the Douglasville Downtown Conference Center and the Douglasville Welcome Center.

The Douglasville Downtown Conference Center where business conventions are frequently held is a 10,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility with private meeting rooms and a 3,500 sq. ft. ballroom to accommodate special occasions. The Welcome Center is an excellent source for tourism and local travel information. The Welcome Center provides a wide variety of helpful assistance to encourage tourism including local travel maps, brochures describing the most interesting tourist attractions, discount coupon books that offer savings at restaurants and other retail establishments, and information about current activities and events.

Business is thriving in and around Douglasville

The central business district in Historic Downtown Douglasville and the shopping mall area along the Douglas Boulevard Corridor between Chapel Hill Road and Highway 5 are thriving with opportunities for new businesses. Two good sources of official information about opportunities for businesses are the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce on Church Street in downtown Douglasville and the Downtown Development Authority, which is a of group of city appointed volunteers. The Downtown Development Authority issues grants through the Facade Assistance Program to merchants in order to facilitate the kind of renovations that are consistent with the City’s official Historic Preservation design standards.

Douglasville’s residential neighborhoods are charming and well maintained

Douglasville has many smaller neighborhoods that typically contain charming yet modest single family homes on beautifully landscaped properties as well as mansions on large estate size properties. Douglasville also contains many different master planned communities that range in size from several hundred homes to nearly a thousand homes, and they feature amenities like swimming pools, fitness centers, tennis courts, golf courses, and clubhouses for socializing with friends and neighbors. Douglasville offers people the convenience of a short commute to Atlanta, and it promises to maintain the friendly and gracious feeling of life in a small Southern town.
